Salima Meherali
Salima Meherali is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta. Her research focuses on migration and global maternal, child, and adolescent health. As a principal investigator, she has led several community-based participatory action research (CBPAR) projects that engage women, adolescents, and youth in meaningful ways to support their healthcare decision-making and promote improved health and well-being.
Salima is deeply committed to addressing health inequities among vulnerable populations through inclusive and culturally sensitive approaches. Her work emphasizes research synthesis, the adaptation and scaling up of evidence-based interventions in community settings, and innovative knowledge translation strategies to ensure that research findings are effectively shared and implemented in practice. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams both locally and globally to inform policies and programs that strengthen health systems and improve outcomes for underserved communities.
