Tanya Tan, a student in the English MA in Literatures of Modernity (and Ryerson BA English alumna), has been named as a Top 25 Storyteller finalist in the 2016 Social Sciences and Humanities Research Councils (SSHRC) Storytellers Challenge. As SSHRC explains, the contest challenges postsecondary students from across the country to demonstratein three minutes or 300 wordshow SSHRC-funded research is making a difference in the lives of Canadians. Tanyas entry focuses on Dr. Colleen Derkatchs research study Rhetorics of Wellness: Discourse Mapping in an Illness-Oriented Culture. The project explores the language of wellness.

As one of the Top 25 Storyteller Finalists, Tanya receives a prize of $3,000 and gear up to present at the Storytellers Showcase at the 2016 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Calgary from May 28-30
th.
