In 1976, the Palin Foundation was incorporated as a charity with a mission to create a space for TMU students that was fully student governed. Fast forward to the early 2000s and that dream was realized in the building of the new Student Centre (SCC) adjoining the historic Oakham House at the corner of Gould and Church Streets in downtown Toronto. In 2026 to celebrate 50 years of the Foundation, the Palin Foundation became the Oakham Foundation. This change clarifies our existence and situates the Foundation in the physical space it occupies鈥揙akham House.

Oakham Foundation runs the SCC along with Oakham House. The SCC is home to student unions, affiliated campus groups, The Eyeopener newspaper, Met Radio and the Good Food Centre. Inside Oakham House you鈥檒l find the Office of the Ombudsperson, Oakham Caf茅, The Met Campus Pub and a host of rentable venue spaces.

Oakham Caf茅, tucked between historic Oakham House and the SCC, is your go鈥憈o campus spot for delicious, fairly priced food and coffee. Whether you鈥檙e grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a meal, Oakham Caf茅 makes it easy to stay energized between classes. Our menu includes halal, vegetarian, and vegan options, keeping things accessible for everyone. Affordable, diverse, and always close by.

The Met is your on鈥慶ampus hangout at TMU, offering affordable food, drinks, games, and student鈥慺ocused events in one lively space. It鈥檚 the go鈥憈o spot for students to relax, recharge, and connect with friends between classes. Our menu includes halal, vegetarian, and vegan options, making it easy for everyone to find something they love. The Met is available to book for all TMU students! .

If you are facing food insecurity, you can register as a member with the Good Food Centre and earn 鈥減oints鈥� to spend on food and supplies. There are drop in hours during the summer for everyone.  Harvests from TMSU鈥檚 rooftop garden are also used to supply the Good Food Centre. The GFC is open all year round and is also available for public access in the summer.

The Toronto 吃瓜直播 Students' Union (TMSU) Equity Service Centres provide drop-in spaces for students, community-building events, and help create safer campus spaces through advocacy. Groups include BIPOC Students' Collective, Student Access Collective, The Queer Space, Trans Collective, SHIFT, and Centre for Women and Trans People (CWTP).
