Biography
Hossein Hassani received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Shiraz University of Technology, Iran, and his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Windsor, Canada, in 2023. He subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University from 2023 to 2025.
Dr. Hassani is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering at ³Ô¹ÏÖ±²¥. His research is centred on Embodied AI, Deep Learning, Deep Reinforcement Learning, and Multimodal Learning, with a particular focus on end-to-end autonomous driving systems.
He has served in several leadership roles within the IEEE community, including Chair of the IEEE Windsor Section, Chair of the IEEE SP/ComSoc Joint Chapters, and Vice-Chair of the IEEE CIS/SMC Joint Chapters at the Windsor Section. He has also served as a member of the Communication Society Awards Committee for the IEEE North America Region.

Received his B.Tech. in Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology (Co-op) from McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, Canada, and his Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Mohawk College, Hamilton, ON, Canada, both in 2019. Since May 2026, he has been pursuing an . in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Mechatronics Engineering at ³Ô¹ÏÖ±²¥, Toronto, ON, Canada, as a member of the CarAI Lab. Prior to graduate studies, he spent six years as a manufacturing and production engineer in the manufacturing sector, with roles at Ford, Magna, and Miller Technology covering robotic cell integration, process FMEA, and machine safety assessment. His research interests include computer vision, deep learning, and occupancy networks in autonomous vehicles.
