The Centre for Urban Research and Land Development is an expert-led research Centre, dedicated to formulating policies and solutions to address the concerns confronting urban growth and change within the Greater Golden Horseshoe, as well as educating students to take leadership roles in these pursuits. Its orientation is founded on uniting economics and market analysis within the context and understanding of social and environmental considerations.

NOW Toronto cites CUR's most recent population report in their look at trending Canadian home prices. The national decline in sales is driven mainly by select municipalities - with Toronto at the bottom of list seeing an 8% decline overall.

The Toronto Sun highlights the latest C.D. Howe report, authored by CUR Senior Research Fellow, Frank Clayton. Clayton examines how existing land-use policy differs from homebuyer preferences, resulting in a lack of ground-related housing and ensuing population migration to areas where affordable ground-related housing is available.

With a new housing partnership announced aimed at delivering 5,600 rental homes across the city, NOW Toronto checks in with Frank Clayton, CUR Senior Research Fellow, regarding the potential effects of this significant funding injection into the city. Clayton states that, while a positive step, many questions still remain on how many of these homes will actually be attainable for Toronto's lower-income residents and that's it's key that governments also invest in the sale market to further improve affordability.
