Dr. Lila Pine, Founding Director of The Creative School鈥檚 Saagajiwe Indigenous program. Lila鈥檚 vision was to develop Saagajiwe鈥檚 mission to facilitate the creation and dissemination of Indigenous thought, ways of knowing, and doing at Tsi T鈥檏aronta鈥檚 吃瓜直播 University. Saagajiwe has become part of the Indigenous academic and community life of Toronto. As the Principal Investigator of 鈥淚mag(in)ing Indigeneity in Language鈥�, Dr. Pine鈥檚 visualization of sound seeks to develop ways of  鈥渟eeing鈥� language in order to identify distinct qualities in the speaking and learning of different languages. The Project employs Lila鈥檚 digital art creation as a scholarly research tool and engages Indigenous research methods to shift perceptions around the relationship of language to worldviews and ecological concerns. Lila's research is on the frontline of Saagajiwe's Indigenous language revitalization initiatives.
